The fields of computer science, engineering, digital marketing and those who possess the necessary skills to support the creation of webmasters are in distress, despite an increase in their salaries, JobsDB said.

Hybrid work is a key incentive that can help retain employees and avoid massive layoffs, the company said.

“We think the Thai employment rate will see a double -digit growth this year following the lifting of restrictions linked to the pandemic over the last two months, with an expected 20 to 50 % increase, according to the sector.” , said Duangporn Promon, CEO of JobsDB Recruitment (Thailand).

Computer workers have the strongest demand since the pandemic and this trend will continue due to digital transformation, she said.

Programmers, software developers, data scientists, analysts and those with skills in computer infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud operations and artificial intelligence are the most sought after by computer companies.

“The demand for digital marketing specialists and people with the skills likely to support the industry is also on the rise,” Ms Duangporn said.

Information technology is the first profession in terms of proportion of companies with a salary increase, reported by 41 % of companies, followed by sales, customer service and marketing at 40 %, education and training in 40 %, health and beauty at 39 %, and administration at 38 %.

These figures compare the first nine months of 2021 to the same period the previous year.

According to her, hybrid labor policies and stimulus activities are key factors that can attract employees.

In the United States and Singapore, remote work has been adopted to reduce emissions, while the largest conglomerates in Thailand are also continuing this trend, Ms Duangporn said.

Licensing in startups should not have multiplied, but they have taken their place in large deficit companies such as the Shopee electronics marketplace.

Shopee reportedly obtained licenses in all ASEAN markets, including Thailand.

In a context of rising inflation, “companies must seek to increase their incomes in order to increase their employees’ wages to cope with rising costs,” she said.
