About the Role
This position is part of a research team working on an Australian Research Council (ARC) Linkage Project, titled “Settling well: a longitudinal study of refugees in regional Australia”. Regional humanitarian settlement is a key priority across all levels of government in Australia. This study aims to provide a longitudinal assessment of the impacts of regional settlement for humanitarian migrants and destination communities.
This Research Fellow position involves the design of quantitative data collection tools to be distributed to humanitarian entrants living in regional Australia and host community members.
- Significantly contributing to the research effort of the team and developing research expertise with an increasing degree of autonomy.
- Undertaking and supporting original research, including quantitative research design, data collection, and data analysis
- Working collaboratively with members of the research team and partner organizations to conduct nationally and internationally significant research.
- Contributing to and publishing high impact academic papers and other scholarly outputs on topics relevant to the ARC Linkage project.
You are an experienced researcher, looking to develop your career in academic research. a sound publication record in relevant areas, commensurate with experience and opportunities. You will have the ability to work co-operatively and positively in a multi-disciplinary research-based team environment and liaise with people from diverse backgrounds. You will be able to draw on your excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, to meet deadlines and bring projects to a timely completion.
You will also have:
- Completion (or near completion) of a PhD in social sciences, social epidemiology, or a related discipline, with a focus on quantitative research
- Demonstrated experience in conducting research with a focus on quantitative survey design and analysis
- Experience with systematic reviews and knowledge of key sources of bias in quantitative/epidemiological studies
- Experience of analyzing population-based datasets (preferably longitudinal) and selecting appropriate statistical tools
