The country’s largest passenger vehicle manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has held the top spot for a good few decades now. And with the ever-increasing demand for its cars, it doesn’t seem that it will be dethroned anytime soon. Speaking of sales the company recently announced its sales volume for July of this year. MSIL in July of 2022 dispatched a total of 175,916 units. Total sales in the month include domestic sales of 145,666 units, sales to other OEMs of 9,939 units and exports of 20,311 units.

The total passenger vehicle sales of the Indian automaker stood at a strong 1,42,850 units which overall was 9,118 units than what it managed to accomplish in the same month last year in 2021. Talking about the sales in the period of April to July, this year MSIL managed to dispatch 5,12,004 units compared to 4,26,794 units last year.

Sales of the Alto and S-Presso, which are part of the Mini segment, reached 20,333 units in July 2022, up from the 19,685 units sold in July 2021. From April to July 2021, 66,925 units were sold, and from April to July 2022, 69,320 units were sold. Due to declining sales, the company stopped producing various S-Presso models in July 2022.

The company also recorded sales of compact models such as the Baleno, Celerio, DZire, Ignis, Swift, TourS, and WagonR of 84,818 units in July 2022, an increase from the 70,268 units sold in July 2021. Additionally, YTD sales increased from 2 ,31,778 units sold in the same 4 months of 2021 to 2,89,695 units in the 2022 timeframe. Sales of mini and compact vehicles reached 1,05,151 units as a result of 89,953 units sold in July 2021.

While the YTD sales grew to 4,051 units from 3,968 units sold in April-July 2021, Ciaz sales decreased to 1,379 units in July 2022 from 1,450 units sold in July 2021. Sales of UVs, which include the Brezza, Ertiga, S-Cross, and XL6, decreased from 32,272 units in July 2021 to 23,272 units in July 2022. Sales for the year to date increased from 92,283 units sold in 2021 to 1,04,124 units. In the most recent month, Maruti also sold 13,048 Eeco vans.

In July 2022, 2,816 units of the company’s commercial vehicle portfolio, which included the Super Carry, were sold, up from 2,768 units in July 2021. From 6,824 units sold in the same time of 2021 to 13,633 units sold in the April to July 2022 period, there was a considerable year-to-date increase. Some of Maruti Suzuki’s models are also sold to other OEMs. In July 2022, 9,939 units were sold, an increase over the 4,738 units sold in July 2021. Sales for the year so far increased to 28,462 units from 15,715 units sold from April to July 2021.

While YTD sales have increased from 4,49,333 units to 5,54,099 units between April and July 2022, total domestic sales, which stood at 1,41,238 units in July 2021, increased to 1,55,605 units in July 2022. 20,311 Maruti Suzuki vehicles were exported in the most recent month. Compared to the 21,224 units supplied in July 2021, this represented a decline. However, YTD exports increased to 89,748 units between April and July 2022, up from 66,743 units exported during the same time in 2021.

Things are likely to get even better for Maruti when the prices of the Grand Vitara are announced, followed by the launch Alto 800. After that, what is most likely is a mini SUV based on the Baleno which has already been spied testing.
